The iTransform initiative builds on progress in gene therapy to date. In this first phase, we are crowdsourcing user views to determine what services are in demand and what service features should be prioritised in the build of the iTransform product and catalogue of services.
To understand gene therapy you need to understand how genes work in humans. Genes are made up of DNA and provide a specific function to the cell [e.g. help produce molecules called proteins]. Mutated genes – are genes that directly contribute to the development of disease. iTransform will replace or modify the mutated genes.
Human gene therapy – describes the prevention, treatment or cure of a disease or disorder by genetic modification [i.e. human gene editing] of the affected cells to correct a cellular dysfunction or to provide a new cellular function.
Enhancement human gene therapy – is aimed at improving an already healthy person by genetic modification to confer an advantage [e.g. to increase your athletic ability].
Eugenics – Eugenics is a movement that is aimed at improving the genetic composition of the human race.
Transhuman – is a being that resembles a human in most respects but who has powers and abilities beyond those of a standard human. These abilities might include improved intelligence, awareness, strength, or durability.
Below is a draft catalogue of services that will be available to you through the iTransform product.
